The role

Within our private client tax team, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with clients, being part of a team that helps them to realise their business and personal ambitions.

Our clients span a broad range of sectors and counties but what brings them together is that they are all individuals with great ideas an great businesses, and we are proud to be part of their success. You will be involved in providing a collaborative approach to our clients, working closely with the Partners.

We are looking for a candidate qualified by ATT/CTA or experience. Your key areas of responsibility will be to manage your own portfolio of private clients, trusts and partnerships, delivering a high level of client service and producing work in an efficient and effective manner. The role will be to provide a full personal tax compliance and advisory service tailored to the circumstances of each client. You would also be expected to help train and supervise junior staff.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Dealing with annual tax returns for delegated clients
  • Liaising with HM Revenue & Customs on behalf of clients
  • Involvement in a wide range of personal tax assignments, including tax forecasting, considering residence and domicile status, capital gains tax, planning and enquiry work.
  • Responding to issues and queries from clients
  • Maintaining regular client contact
  • Managing your own portfolio of private clients, trusts and partnerships, including taking responsibility for raising bills
  • Working as part of a team to meet all deadlines and ensure that client expectations are exceeded
  • Providing support to Managers and Partners on their portfolios and ad hoc projects
  • Training and supervising junior staff

To join the team, you should have the following skills:

  • Strong team mentality but with the ability to work independently
  • Be a Qualified Tax Advisor – ATT/CTA – or qualified by experience
  • Previous work experience gained in a private client/personal tax environment, preferably in practice
  • A good working knowledge of tax preparation software and HMRC online services
  • Strong organisational skills, including proven experience in managing a busy client portfolio
  • Good attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills – thinking outside the box and proposing solutions
  • Confident and adaptable communication skills – written, verbally and in person
  • Be proactive and determined
  • Well-developed sense of client service
